October 4th, 1984, it was a usual night for many. In the simple family of the musician Sergey Katin has taken place an event which will forever stay in a music history. Sergeys wife - Inessa made light on the daughter. At Daddy's will, they named her Elena. In spite of the fact that this was his second daughter, happiness of the father was limitless. Even before she was born he knew who she was going to be and found it necessary that his child goes on his stops. It also turned out, that Lena was not put out there until she was four years old, when Sergey, wanted to develop her skills and creative abilities of his daughter; began to drive her to different sport and musical clubs. At first it he drove her to figure skating, then art, gymnastics, and ball dances. But Lena's discipline in these fields were poor (probably because she was naturally a little chubby), and she consequently did not linger over any of them longer than a year. Though she really loved to go on navigations and to go horseback riding, it brought her true pleasure. When she was seven years old, as well as usual children, went to a usual comprehensive school in her native city, Moscow. And in her beginning year was to be trained at the childrens musical school, no. 30, for piano. Kind and fair, Lena liked all. She was rather hardworking and studied rather well, loved to read especially love novels. But for some reason she had very few friends. She liked to sit at home by herself and read her favorite book, and even better- play the piano, rather than go walking with friends. In 1994 she joined a known children's variety ensemble "Avenue". She was in there for three years, then when she was 13 years old, Lena got in the most popular and prestigious group in that time in Moscow CVIA "Neposedi" (Not sitting). Where she got acquainted with Julia. Lena originally met Julia while singing in "Neposedi" until she had to leave the group, because of inappropriate behavior. Later after that, Lena left aswell...

Lena Katina in t.A.T.u.

A child psychologist (ex-marketing producer and copywriter) named Ivan Shapovalov began his quest to create a musical project. Ivan had no previous experience in the field of music. The project was an experiment. With the help of Elena Kiper and Valeri Polienko, Ivan held auditions at the MosFilms studios to cast a single girl, for a his music project. They auditioned hundreds of girls, two seemed to have the potential- Lena and Julia. The entire casting group favored Lena, although Ivan prefered Julia. He favored her, but had to go with the groups majority decision. In t.A.T.u. group Lena has recorded solo songs (demos): "Chto Ne Hvataet", "Yugoslavia", "Belochka", "I Know", "You", "All My Love".
